2008 Educational Convention is July 24-27 in Chicago. Program book will be online soon! Call the office (708) 383-0808 for details.

We have nightly family activities/parties. The themes change each year, but the fun always prevails. Moms, Dads, kids and even grandparents all have a great time. Dr. Simmons (white shirt on the top right) has taken personal vacation time from his University position to volunteer and attend every Annual Children's Convention held. He offers free dental screenings for afected children. He is one of the few in the country who specialize in children with growth disorders. It's good to see the dedicated volunteers having fun too!

Each year, The MAGIC Foundation offers a One of a Kind Opportunity for all families and/ or adults afflicted with our primary disorders.

There is absolutely no other program of its caliber offered anywhere in the world!

If you are personally affected, or have a loved one who is affected by:
* Growth Hormone Deficiency * Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia * Panhypopituitarism/Tumors
* Optic Nerve Hypoplaisa/ Septo Optic Dysplasia * Precocious Puberty
* McCune Albright Syndrome * Russell-Silver Syndrome * Turner Syndrome or other growth disorder,
please take a few minutes to read about this valuable program. It is the best ninety five dollars members will ever spend! Programs of equal calibur cost in excess of $300 for each attendee. We conduct fundraising programs all year long to keep this cost down for affected families.

Daycare is available by bonded caregivers, on site during the educational segments, so that you can pop in on your children whenever you choose! (See link to Children's Activities for more details on the daycare and children's field trips).

Field trips are offered to children ages 6 and older. We do offer chaperones. However, we do encourage you to ask a grandparent or older responsible sibling to go along with your younger children for additional peace of mind.

Evening activities at the hotel are filled with fun, food, and many many free gifts! You will not leave empty handed!

What you can expect while attending the Educational Segments:

Medical Specialists speaking about topics pertaining to the latest updates and treatment options. And a question and answer time for medical advice.
Networking sessions where parents talk with other parents to find out how they handle day to day living.
A hotel filled to the max with families and kids just like yours! It's amazing- the kids are all of a sudden..."normal"! They love it! Cafe-o-lait at the pool...no problem. G-tubes....me too!
There are various free health screenings, programs about insurance, school issues and more....each year!

The kid's have a sense of belonging and being "normal"- they eagerly compete for table positions to conduct a question and answer segment by parents! Who knew...they would be so eager to finally talk about it all?

There is so much to say about this incredible program but we will just leave you with a thought...have you ever seen a 2 year old party til she drops? We see lots of them!

Join us this year!

Airline Information

If you are flying, HERE is a link to the latest informtion about the restrictions on airplance.

If you would like to check the availability of free, discounted or assistance with airline ticket costs etc. We have listed some information below for you.

As airlines often change things around, please make sure to check with the airlines (or assistance programs) directly before making any plans. We offer this information based upon what families have told us.

Many airlines offer discounts for families of chronically or seriously ill children. Some offer discounts for all tickets, others offer that the affected child's ticket is free but yours is full price. You basically just have to start hunting and asking questions. If someone sounds uninformed...keep looking!

You can call each of the airlines who fly into your area directly and inquire as to their current program and availability, or go through a clearinghouse such as Mercy Medical Airlift, or the National Patient Travel Center (mainly for medical treatments and care but may be available for ongoing parent education of chronically ill children if resources are available).

Discounts often have "requirements" such as a physicians letter of need, or an organization (such as MAGIC) must supply them with a letter of verification etc. So be prepared, there will be a bit of effort on your part!

There are also numerous groups of private pilots who offer their time, planes and personal resources to fly families throughout the country for various medical purposes. We have listed those we could, but you may find others. If you come across someone who is not listed, please send us an email and let us know! Thanks!

Angel Flight has regional groups throughout the United States. Each group has different contact information. Contact their primary office to get the office number of the Angel Flight group for your area.

Air Life Line has a vast national network of more than a thousand pilots. They can be reached by calling them at their toll free number 1-877-247-5433.

Hope Air flies Canadian families to medical facilities and does include flying to US locations.

Med Flight of Indiana

Miracle Flights for Kids is a great group with few restrictions or requirements. They are based in Nevada and can be reached by calling 800-359-1711.

Volunteer Pilots Association- handles mainly the Northeastern US

Remember- many groups are first come first serve! And please be patient- these are generous volunteers who are helping many families not a paid company! Good luck!
